Hardware suitable for RISC OS computers

We supply a range of new, reconditioned and pre-owned computer hardware suitable for use with computers that run RISC OS. We don't normally supply complete computers only computer components. In order to use these products they will need to be fitted to a computer by someone with suitable expertise. All items are sold mail order, we do not accept callers so it won't be possible for a customer to pick up an order.

Network interfaces

10Base2 Network interface for RiscPC

This interface board plugs into the network socket on a RiscPC, A7000 or A7000+ motherboard. These interfaces have been pulled from working computers and reconditioned by APDL in London. You will need a suitable network cable and (depending on your network) a suitable 10Base2 BNC adapter and terminator.

10BaseT (RJ45) Network interface for RiscPC

This interface board plugs into the network socket on a RiscPC, A7000 or A7000+ motherboard. These interfaces have been pulled from working computers and reconditioned by APDL in London. You will need a suitable network cable.

Keyboard and Mouse

Three button serial mouse

This mouse plugs into the serial port of any Acorn RISC OS computer. It has the same three button layout as a genuine Acorn mouse and is compatible with all RISC OS applications.

Cables

Floppy disc and sold state storage power adapters cable

This cable plugs into a normal four pin Molex/AMP power socket at one end and on the other end has a small four pin power socket as used on floppy disc drives. This cable can also be used to provide power for most solid state storage adapters.

Dual IDE cable

This cable plugs into a normal IDE interface (either single or dual channel) and can connect up to two devices (for example a harddisc and CD reader). It's suitable for use with the IDE interface on the motherboard of most RISC OS computers. It's also suitable for any third party interfaces that use a full size IDE socket.

Storage

DataSafe SparQ drive with 1GB cartridge

A great cost effective way of adding extra storage, either as a backup device or as the main hard disc for a RISC OS computer with bi-directional parallel port. Brand new old stock with all cables, power supply and a 1GB cartridge. You can buy further cartridges from us if you need more storage.

DataSafe SparQ drive 1GB cartridge

A single 1GB SparQ disc for use with our DataSafe SparQ drives. The disc will hold up to 1GB (that's over 650 floppy discs) of data and provides high speed storage for our parallel port SparQ drives. Comes complete with plastic storage box. Supplied PC formatted unless requested.

RiscPC Second slice drive cradle

This cradle is designed to fit into a RiscPC second slice and allows another 3.5" harddrive to be fitted in the space that's normally used for an optical drive (CD/CD-R etc). The cradle comes complete with a fitting kit with the appropriate screws and a red LED disc activity light.

Fujitsu MPE3136AT 13.7GB IDE Hard Drive

A standard 3.5" IDE harddisc. These drives were removed from working PCs when they were upgraded. APDL purchased a large number of these drives as they we from low stress environments and were taken out of service before the MTBF had been reached. The drives were then soak tested and reformatted by APDL.

160GB Seagate Barracuda IDE Hard Drive

A standard 3.5" IDE harddisc. These drives were removed from working PCs when they were upgraded. APDL purchased a large number of these drives as they we from low stress environments and were taken out of service before the MTBF had been reached. 8MB SIMM for RiscPC/A7000

A standard 8MB SIMM (Single Inline Memory Module) suitable for RiscPC or A7000/A7000+ computers. When used in the RiscPC it can be fitted on its own to provide 8MB or a pair can be fitted to provide 16MB. if you order two of these SIMMs they will be supplied as a matched pair (same manufacturer/make/model).

Video Memory (VRAM)

A standard 1MB VRAM module for the RiscPC. Fitting VRAM to a RiscPC allows the machine to display higher resolutions with more colours. In addition the video circuitry will switch to a higher clock speed making the entire machine noticably quicker.

DMA access is provided to the lower socket (excluding Kinetic Processor) to support high speed IDE/SCSI interfaces. Genuine Acorn component reconditioned by APDL.
